In the framework of her extensive digitization project, the University Library Heidelberg provides by now an inexhaustible archive of illustrated magazines of the 19th and early 20th century: Approx. 1000 volumes of historical art – and satire magazine with approx. 400,000 pages, which are available as downloads. The archive holds entire volumes of the most important German satire magazines, including Kaspar Braun’s “Fliegende Blätter”, the Prussian cartoon magazine “Kladderadatsch”, the Munich-based magazines „Simplicissimus“ and “Meggendorfer-Blätter”, the Berlin based “Ulk”, the 48 – magazine “Leuchtkugeln” and the Socialist satire journals “Der Wahre Jacob” and „Lachen links“.  

Due to a substantial donation of the London bookseller Nikolaus Trübner, the University Library Heidelberg acquired a large collection of French satire magazines in 1885. Digitized are parts of Philipon´s famous “La caricature”, Andre Gills “La Lune” and “L´Eclipse”, as well as the following journals “Le Grelot” , “La revue comique”, “Le Sifflet”, the Paris Commune journal “Le Fils du Père Duchêne” and a Cartoon collection related to the Prussian-French War.

Im Rahmen ihres umfangreichen Digitalisierungsprojekts hat die Universitätsbibliothek Heidelberg ein schier unerschöpfliches Archiv illustrierter Magazine des 19. und frühen 20. Jahrhunderts bereitgestellt: ca. 1000 Bände historischer Kunst- und Satiremagazine mit ca. 400.000 Seiten, die als Downloads  zur Verfügung stehen. Das Archiv beherbergt u.a. ganze Jahrgänge der wichtigsten deutschen Karikaturmagazine, darunter Kaspar Brauns “Fliegende Blätter”, den Berliner “Kladderadatsch”, die Münchner Magazine „Simplicissimus“ und “Meggendorfer-Blätter” , den Berliner “Ulk”, das 48er – Magazin “Leuchtkugeln” und die sozialistischen Satirejournale “Der Wahre Jacob” und „Lachen links“

1885 gelangte durch eine substantielle Schenkung des Londoner Buchhändlers Nikolaus Trübner eine Sammlung französischer Satirezeitschriften in den Besitz der UB Heidelberg. Digitalisiert wurden Teile von Philipons “La caricature”,  Andre Gills “La Lune” und “L´Eclipse”, das Nachfolgeblatt “Le Grelot”, “La revue comique”, “Le Sifflet”, das Kommune-Journal “Le Fils du Père Duchêne” und eine Karikatursammlung zum deutsch-französischen Krieg.
